Bryophyllum

Patharchatta (Bryophyllum pinnatum). Who does not know of Patharchatta (Bryophyllum pinnatum)? It is useful in the treatment of stones.

Bryophyllum

Today I will discuss the other special uses of Patharchatta (Bryophyllum pinnatum), What can be the other uses of this herb? I must tell you, that if someone has a respiratory disorder and has Asthma, has very heavy breathing and uses an inhaler, In the early stages when someone uses an inhaler, to help them get rid of the inhaler, there is a camphor by the name, Bhimseni Kapoor (camphor), although this is a camphor used to burn, this is a pure form of regular camphor, which is available with the local herb vendor by the name 'Bhimseni Kapoor'. Take a big chunk of that camphor and place it on your palm, and cover it in this manner, bring it close to your nostrils and inhale deeply, inhale once and then exhale, Repeat this process. You do this 10-20 times. In one sitting you can do it for 10 times, and then place it back in the container. Then you can do it in the afternoon, followed by evening. This can be done 3-4 times a day. If you're breathless often, you can do it more often.

But if you do it too frequently, then it can become intoxicating. You will be habituated to it. In the first week, when you have more trouble, then you can do it 4 to 5 times a day. As the problem began begins to subside , reduce the frequency to twice a day then once a day. and finally once or twice a week. This is very good for breathlessness. One stops getting breathless immediately. We used this method to help people get rid of their inhaler. People are also practising this, and they give me the feedback very often, sharing their experience that this helps them in a few days. From day 2-3, there is no need for the inhaler.

We use the leaves of Patharchatta (Bryophyllum pinnatum) in respiratory disorders. This has to be taken in the morning and evening. I will let you know the quantity needed. You can also use this in case of a stomach ache. If there is a sudden stomach ache, or there is constant stomach ache, without traceable cause, this can be given in such conditions also. Other than asthma, respiratory disorders and stomachaches, when someone has urinary incontinence, this can be given. Other than this, it is used for a number of other illnesses, like this can be used in cholera, or those who have ulcers in the stomach, It is very good. Now let us understand how to use this.

There are 3 to 4 ways to use this. You can wash this leaf and directly start consuming it. If the leaf is of this size then take only one, But if the leaves are small in size like these, then you can use 2 leaves. This has to be chewed for an empty stomach in the morning, 30-45 minutes before meals. This can be taken in the evening around 5-7 PM, 1 to 2 hours before meals in the evening whenever you feel like. You can take two leaves after washing properly.

This will start benefitting in all the illnesses that I mentioned. If you cannot chew the leaf, take three leaves and crush them properly. After crushing 2 to 3 teaspoons water, grind it in a mortar and pestle, and squeeze it. and drink its juice. You may drink the juice as well. It will benefit equally well. The third method which is a better option, is to take two leaves, if, however, the leaves are not fresh and have withered, then you can boil and drink the decoction. How do you have to drink decoction? Take 1 to 2 leaves, If it is big, use 1 leaf and if it is small, then use 2, You keep these leaves in one or 1 1/2 glass of water to boil, on a low flame, keep removing the lid and stir it often.

When you say that a quarter of the water remains, or a third remains, filter this and when the water turns lukewarm, you should slowly drink this. This will benefit all the problems that I mentioned earlier. There is one more method, is that of taking its dry powder. Powder the leaves after shade-drying the leaves, if you find it difficult to find fresh leaves every day. Take 1 teaspoon powder in the morning and 1 teaspoon in the evening, But the efficacy of the powder will be less, than the other options explained earlier. You can use the paste of the fresh leaves, to apply on the wounds or in case of insect bites, about which I had shared earlier.

I will not repeat that. You can use this in case of headache also. Take 3 to 4 leaves and dry roast them, and make a paste out of the leaves, and rub the paste on the temples. After rubbing it on the temples, and placing it properly spreading it, tie a bandage over it, or tie something so that it remains in place for 1-2 hours. Then you can remove it.

If you follow this way, then you can get relief from headaches also. Although if one has a migraine, or there is some other problem, the reason which is not obvious, then that has to be tackled together. This helps in one way at least. This was more information related to Patharchatta (Bryophyllum pinnatum), This will be intoxicating if you increase its dose, as overdose is not recommended. It becomes intoxicating, remember this fact.

One more fact about Patharchatta (Bryophyllum pinnatum), is that its plant is tridosha nashak (pacifies all three doshas). Any herb that is Tridosha nashak (pacifying 3 doshas), when you use it, you should not have this fear that, whether this would cause excess heat, or would it cause excess cold, or would it suit you? or would it not suit you? The herb that is Tridosha nashak or Tridosha shamak, (pacifies all the 3 doshas), any person can use it.
